Today we’re excited to share a guest post from Simone Kelly and her new novel Like a Fly on the Wall! It’s a suspenseful novel that crackles with intrigue, sex, and plenty of surprises—perfect for fans of Eric Jerome Dickey and Carl Weber.
Meet Jacques Berradi. Moroccan-born and Manhattan-raised, his genuine, sexy-smooth allure goes hand in hand with a unique gift. Since Jacques was young, he has had the ability to read peoples’ energies, communicate with spirit guides, and even catch glimpses of people’s futures. Now a professional “intuitive counselor,” Jacques’s clients pay him handsomely for his insight. Unfortunately, Jacques’s psychic abilities don’t come with an off switch to tune out the world’s noise, nor do they always provide him with easy answers; recently Jacques has begun having dark, alarming dreams about his beloved father, a Moroccan immigrant who died when he was a boy.
Meet Kylie Collins, an adventurous, Miami twentysomething who is trying to find her footing after being laid off from a cushy music industry job. When a mishap brings them together, Kylie is instantly mesmerized by Jacques’s cool demeanor and intuitive abilities, and he’s captivated by her outgoing charm and breezy good looks. Seeking to learn more about her family history—including the identity of the father she’s never known—Kylie visits Jacques’s office to gain some insight about her future, and about her free-spirited and headstrong Jamaican mother.
But on the night that they meet, a rolling blackout cuts off power throughout Miami. Kylie and Jacques, and a few of his clients, head to the only place in the neighborhood with enough light to see: Like a Fly on the Wall Detective Agency. There, Kylie serendipitously lands herself the perfect new job as an apprentice private eye.
As partners, Jacques and Kylie are an unstoppable duo. Can Jacques’s intuition reveal the scandalous history of Kylie’s mother and father? Will Kylie’s newfound detective skills uncover evidence about the death of Jacques’s father? And will the chemistry that charges their friendship bubble over into something much, much hotter…?

Guest Post from Simone Kelly:
Family secrets…we all have them and some of us just may be in the dark about them right now. Did you ever hear a story about a family member and your gut just tells you that maybe the truth was twisted to protect others? Maybe if feels a bit off and something urges you to dig a little deeper to get answers. Well, that ‘something’ that urges you to find out more is your intuition.
It happened to me. I originally wanted to do some research on a story about my grandmother who I never met. She mysteriously died in Jamaica at a young age. However, the story never set right with me. So, I felt that maybe she never received justice. It led me to brainstorm and before I knew it, I started writing a book with family secrets as the theme. I’m still in search of MY answers, but this book helped get me the drive to do the research.
Jacques Berradi in Like a Fly on the Wall follows his hunches to learn about a family mystery that begins to haunt him. He has to face the cold hard facts about his family dynamics. Only as a gifted psychic, his messages come in the form of dreams, visions, and whispers from his deceased father or his spirit guides.
Although it’s an erotic thriller with a supernatural twist, my goal was not only to entertain you with colorful characters but also to help demystify the whole idea of being intuitive. Most of pop culture puts psychics in the box of freaks, weirdos, and con artists. I wanted to show that this world is not all about demons, ghosts, and terror—but about how you can use your gifts in your daily life.
I’ve had people come up to me after reading my book and say, “Wow, I think I’m psychic too!” or “I never told anyone, but I see things.”
Many of us have a gut feeling, visions, dreams, and even hear voices in our heads…but discount it as nonsense or an over-active imagination. However, the truth is, we all have the gift of intuition. I hope that all those who read Like a Fly on the Wall will enjoy the journey of tapping into their own power!
