Austin Kleon has made poetry out of the negative space in newspapers by quite literally blacking out everything except the words he wants us to see. In honor of National Poetry month, and his new book, Newspaper Blackout, we all decided to try our hand at our own newspaper blackout poems. Check out Kayleigh's over at the Roaring 20s. Here's mine, an Ode to Betsy-Tacy. I accidentally used a rather large article as my source (rookie mistake, along with not having enough paper underneath to soak up all the Sharpie marks), so I've added the words to my poem below the image so that you can actually see the poem.
The Betsy-Tacy books
follow the adventures of
partying
enchanting
and believable
occasionally flighty
no ordinary girl
torn between two young Lotharios
