Book Club Girl on Air Welcomes Mary Glickman to Discuss Home in the Morning on December 14th

I'm so pleased to announce that Mary Glickman will join us on Book Club Girl on Air on Tuesday, December 14th, to discuss her debut novel, Home in the Morning. Inspiring and seeped in rich themes of religion, race, love, and redemption, Home in the Morning introduces an important new literary voice.

Home in the Morning is an unconventional love story set at the cusp of the civil rights movement. Jackson Sassaport is caught between three women: Missy Fine Sassaport, his Old South Jewish mother; Stella Godwin, his beloved and opinionated Yankee wife; and Katherine Marie, the poor African American woman he has loved since his childhood in Mississippi. But as they emerge into the civil rights era, Jackson must decide where to place his allegiances, and whom he must betray. Mary Glickman’s riveting novel traces the ways that race, creed, friendship, family, and love intertwine to shape our lives.  
 
Mary Glickman’s personal story is as compelling as the story she brings to the page. Born to a large Polish Catholic family on the outskirts of Boston, she came of age in the sixties. She fell in love with a Jewish man, eagerly embraced and converted to his faith, and moved to the South with him. Her work echoes some of the great Southern writers who have inspired her, such as Flannery O’Connor, and follows in the great tradition of Jewish authors, including Chaim Potok and Saul Bellow.
