Adriana Trigiani is a book club maven -- she's been talking on the phone with book clubs (in her jammies, while doing the laundry) for years. She is the author who set the bar for other authors who reach out directly to readers. Earlier this year she joined me to discuss the first in a new trilogy for adults, Very Valentine, and it was a great show.
While new fans of Valentine Roncalli eagerly await the next installment in that series, Encore Valentine, coming in February 2010, Adriana serves up some new literary fare with her first book for young adults, Viola in Reel Life, just on sale this week. In Viola in Reel Life, Trigiani tells the story of Viola, who has been abruptly transplanted from her home in Brooklyn, NY and sent to a boarding school in South Bend, Indiana. Separated from her best friend Andrew and stuck with three roommates who actually seem to like living in the sherbet-colored sweater capital of the world, Viola struggles to find her way--with her trusty video camera by her side--and learns that she just might be in for the most incredible year of her life.
Join me on Wednesday, September 30th at 7 pm ET when I talk with Trigiani about Viola in Reel Life. I can't wait to talk to her about her first book for younger readers. I have 15 copies of Viola to give away to those who can participate in the show on the 30th. If you can make the time, please post a comment that you'd like to participate below. The first 15 people (US/Can only) to comment will receive the book to read before the show. Set your reminder for the show with Trigiani, look for her on tour for Viola in Reel Life near you and browse inside Viola in Reel Life.
