Half way through and LOVING it! Hoping to finish it during son's nap. :)

Sigh. Son's 'summer baseball' (AKA 'summer sweatball') will keep me out past chat time.
I do have a question for Ms. Carner, though. I *think* I remember her saying that her own grandmother faced a struggle between the pull of tradition/family and a desire to pursue her art. The writing in this novel is so vivid - descriptions jump right off the page - has Ms. Carner herself had any training/experience in visual arts?
Thanks - will look for the archived show when it's posted.
