Happy paperback on-sale day to Todd Johnson's The Sweet By and By - a novel that People named a "great read for your book club" pick and that bestselling author Adriana Trigiani called "heartfelt and stunning...a genuine page turner." I know many of you are already familiar with The Sweet By and By from my announcement of Todd's upcoming appearance to discuss the book on Book Club Girl on Air on April 26th. Today the Sweet By and By is on sale in paperback and Todd is setting off on a tour to promote it while his book is setting off on a blog tour as well!

Johnson's novel of five southern women who will change the way you think about friendship garnered wonderful attention when it was published in hardcover. And his story of women of a certain age who are confronting their final chapters prompted hundreds of people to send him letters about their own mothers and grandmothers. The paperback edition contains many of the letters that Todd received and they really add to the story once you've read it. The below video excerpts just a few of the letters that he received and is a wonderful testament to the story he tells. Who is Book Club Girl?

Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house). She was single, lived in the city, met a man, moved to the 'burbs, and is now a wife, a stepmother, a mother, and in her spare time, a fledgling blogger dedicated to sharing great books, news and tips with book club girls everywhere.

My Review Policy

I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy. I have a fondness for YA literature and while the blog is not devoted to it (well, except for my obsession with the Betsy-Tacy series), I will occasionally review some YA books.
