I'm so excited for you and your book club!

Julie P.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time. My book club read CASE HISTORIES back in Dec. 2005. Can't wait to hear what you guys think of it!

How fun to meet with a local author! Would love to convince my book group to do that.

We covered and loved:
Kate Atkinson's Case Histories for Books & Bars and will be doing
Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for the second Tues in October. Maybe you could do it same time and we could Skype it together?

I have Case Histories sitting in my TBR pile and keep thinking it needs to get moved to the top of the pile for something completely different. I think you could not have gone wrong with most of the choices. "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything" would give a group a lot to talk about but I can't say I cared much for it. Here's my review

Jennie Nash

I'm so wildly jealous of you and your book club. EVERY book on your list is one I want to read. And the author visit -- well, I'm partial to those only because I love to do them myself. Cheers!

I have heard good things about, Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.

Has anyone read Lost Letter by Neil Mulligan? Thoughts?

Who is Book Club Girl?

  • Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house). She was single, lived in the city, met a man, moved to the 'burbs, and is now a wife, a stepmother, a mother, and in her spare time, a fledgling blogger dedicated to sharing great books, news and tips with book club girls everywhere.

My Review Policy

  • I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy. I have a fondness for YA literature and while the blog is not devoted to it (well, except for my obsession with the Betsy-Tacy series), I will occasionally review some YA books. The best way to reach me to request a review is to email me at bookclubgirl AT gmail DOT com.
