I have one copy of Comfort Food to give away. Comment with your favorite food and I'll choose someone randomly from all comments posted by midnight Thursday, April 23rd. What's my favorite comfort food? Well, I think it's a tie between gruyere cheese and dark chocolate. Is both an option? ;) So yes, I sat next to someone reading Kate Jacobs Comfort Food on the train yesterday am and I haven't been able to get that scrumptious cover with colorful cupcakes on it out of my mind since. Comfort Food just came out in paperback earlier this month and Jacobs is on tour now so check out the link to see if she's coming near you. She's also just joined Twitter so you can start following her and keeping in touch. But the biggest news is that her publisher just announced that her new book, Knit the Season, is coming out this Fall, on sale November 3rd. Knit the Season will continue the story of Knit Two and The Friday Night Knitting Club and will include recipes and knitting patterns!

My fave comfort food... real mashed potatoes with lots of gravy and butter. YUM.

Excluding dessert, it would be mac 'n cheese.

I love all food...but I'm thinking the best is the kind you can share.
Today's favorite food is double-stuff Oreos. it was 100 degrees today and all my students were miserable. At the end of the day, one of my favorites came and sat by me as we waited for the afternoon heat to turn down. I happened to have a couple of Oreos and it was too tempting to twist one apart and offer half to her (she took the stuff with the cream, curse her!). It felt lovely to sit side by side, twisting cookies and teasing over who'd get the side with the cream filling.
It was a lovely ending to a hellish day. So, today's favorite cookie? Store-bought Oreos.

Oh my gosh, my all time fave comfort food is MASHED POTATOE'S!!!! OH my word I could eat them forever, in fact I don't allow myself to make them for I'd eat them all so I only eat them when I order them somewhere and only when it's a special treat...like feeling down, or my birthday or, it's Tuesday, or it's Wednesday or....
ugh it's hopeless ... me and my love for mashed potatoe's!!!
Thanks Jen

My comfort food is when I am studying for a exam. I like to stuff myself with dipping chips in sour cream. Read one sentence dip chip in sour cream. Then chew, then swallow. Then read next sentence and dip the chip in sour cream and chew and swallow. You get the picture. But the chips have to fully rounded chips not broken( or it looses it's affect)It has to be Ruffles too. If the chips are not rounded I look for another one in the bag.
Not any chip will do.
And thank goodness my Anatomy and Physiology class will be over by Wednesday. My body is probably saying thank g-d. I can't take all these fat globules going to the hips.

There are two things that I crave way to often one is free buttered popcorn and the other is white macdamia nut cookies fresh from the oven. Then again I love just about any food from as they say soup to nuts.

I love the cover on that one too. My favorite food is probably salad, but if I have to pick one ingredient out of that, I'll say tomatoes!

I'm the oldest of five and when I was in junior high, my mom went back to school. I got to cook dinner. Mac and cheese was a frequent serving. I remember grating the cheese and it was soo hot in the kitchen. It was YEARS before I could eat a bite of it again. Now I love it! I even have a lower fat recipe that's pretty good too. Though most of my friends say I'm missing the point.

Can it be that there are only two types of carb-loaders in the world - mashed potato people and mac-n-cheese people? I am firmly loyal to Team Mash...

Hi -- I work for Borders. We are having a book club night event in our Borders stores tomorrow night, April 23 at beginning at 7 p.m. featuring Kate Jacobs' "The Friday Night Knitting Club." Kate will call into book club events at Borders stores in Eatontown, NJ, Colleyville, TX, Roseville, MN and Pleasant Hill, CA, so if you are lucky enough to live in/near those cities, you can attend the events and ask questions of Kate about her book. She's a huge book club proponent. If you want her to call into your bookclub about "Comfort Foods" or her other books, you can ask her to do so by logging onto her Web site at www.katejacobs.com!
