I have purchased Twilight for my neice, Water for Elephants for my sister and She's Come Undone for my mother. I still have a few more books to get for my husband! Books are the easiet items to buy for the holidays!

Julie E.

I love Wally Lamb!

So far I've bought a copy of "Pet Food Politics" by Marion Nestle for my brother-in-law, and "The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry" by Kathleen Flinn for my sister. I might get a book for my mom too.

Sarah

I bought my 8-month old son the Going to Bed book by Sandra Boyton and Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss. I also bought myself The Story of Edgar Sawtelle but I guess that doesn't really count as a gift does it? I also buy my husband a book every year (he isn't much of a reader) but haven't picked that one out yet.

Nely

This would be a great addition to my TBR list. I bought a few books for my daughter who is now a big fan of Dr. Seuss but still have to get some more.

Rebekah

I pre-ordered a copy of the Tales of Beedle Bard for a friend of mine for the holidays. So far, that is all I've gotten, but I have more shopping to do!

Ti

I bought the new Mary Higgins Clark book for a book exchange tonight. I also bought a Fairy book for my daughter and an architecture book for my son. They are wrapped and I forget the titles.

I have more to buy including When You Give a Cat a Cupcake. I think that is what it is called.

Dawn - She Is Too Fond Of Books

I pre-ordered the 2nd of the 39 Clues books (which is released today), The Beacon Street Girls journal, Eyewitness Alaska ... my list is long, but those are the only 3 that have been checked off!

Please enter my name in the drawing!

Thanks, and enjoy these last "days off" :)

Carmen T

I'm getting Dr. Suess' "Oh, The Places You'll Go" for my cousin because she's in grade 12 this year.. and I think it'll be a great inspiration about the achievements she'll achieve. =)

Toni

I haven't done my book shopping yet. But I want to buy this one for me and I also want to buy another for my son's library. I would LOOOOOVE LOOOOVE to win this one for me. I have it on my list but you know the family is not so good about buying me books for Christmas, I hint, beg and hint more and I never get enough books. So I will have to be Santa to myself. :) or Maybe I will get lucky this time!!!

melanie

I've been buying little "help me fix it!" knitting books for friends to keep in their knitting bags.

I'd love to win this....
thanks!

Claire

I bought Anathem for my husband, and An Irish Country Doctor for my mother-in-law. This is a great thread - lots of great gift ideas!

Gina B.

I purchased Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea for a friend. I purchased Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines for another friend.

Mimi

I just bought two books for a booksite's Christmas secret Santa - "Lilah" and "Conqueror" and bought a book of Edward Gorey and an Orthodox book for St. Nicholas Day on Saturday.

Lisa

I bought "Finn" by Jon Clinch for my dad for Christmas, "The Universe" (the biggest coffee table book ever) and a pirate book for my middle child and "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy for my husband. The books I've bought for my husband to give me is too numerous to list!

Deb

I bought "Knit Too," the sequel to The Friday Night Knitting Club, for my sister. More books to be bought for other relatives and for my kids soon! And I have been eyeing the Wally Lamb book for me, so would love to win a signed copy!

Melissa Stream

So far I've bought 2 Jon Katz books for my grandmother - she LOVES dogs! I bought BOTH my grandmothers the book "Wish You Well" by David Baldacci. I read it for last month's library book club meeting and I just know my grandmothers will love the story. I'm buying a Harry Turtledove book for my fiancee. I still have to find a few children's books for my goddaughter - she likes them sparkly and glittery!!

I bought my sister the entire Twilight Saga. She hasn't seen the movie yet, and lives in a small town so she's just hearing all the hype regarding the series. I will be purchasing at least 10-12 other book gifts by the time Christmas rolls around!

Cheryl

Have bought Denis Leary's "Why We Suck" for my husband, and Ann Patchett's "The Magician's Assistant" for myself ;) .

MANY, MANY more books are going to be purchased in the next few weeks!

Wendy

I hope I win this book. Please enter me. So far, I have bought Tori Spelling's book for my Mom but I am not finished shopping yet.

    Who is Book Club Girl?

    • Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house). She was single, lived in the city, met a man, moved to the 'burbs, and is now a wife, a stepmother, a mother, and in her spare time, a fledgling blogger dedicated to sharing great books, news and tips with book club girls everywhere.

    My Review Policy

    • I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy. I have a fondness for YA literature and while the blog is not devoted to it (well, except for my obsession with the Betsy-Tacy series), I will occasionally review some YA books. The best way to reach me to request a review is to email me at bookclubgirl AT gmail DOT com.
