You have to pay attention. First a friend recommended Erica Abeel's new novel, Conscience Point to me. Then, in further searching online, I found that Julie from Booking Mama also read and loved this book. I think Julie has great taste, so that made me really sit up and take notice. Conscience Point is Abeel's fifth novel, and now I am really interested in reading everything she's written. In this novel, Abeel tells the story of Madeleine Shayw, a beautiful over-achiever who finds herself entranced by an extremely wealthy NY family in a story about a mysterious love with two faces; the battle to stay relevant in the post-literate world; a shocking betrayal that exposes the past of characters "rotten with secrets"; and, finally, the passion to reclaim old dreams. This genre-bending novel mixes heartbreak, Gothic atmospherics, and a satire of New York's high-stakes players. I have an ARC of this book, and I can't wait to read it. I've seen such good reviews!
