Vote! Vote! Vote!

Election No matter who we vote for, we all must exercise the right we have, and that people died to ensure us, to vote today, November 4th. And in the spirit of voting, I offer you a book recommendation -- Tom Perrotta's scathing and hilarious Election. Tracy Flick wants to be president of Winwood High and will do anything to win and it looks like she will, until she comes up against Mr. McAllister, a teacher who is a bit too obsessed with seeing her lose. The book was made into the nearly pitch perfect film starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick. If you haven't read this book, buy it, check it out of your library, borrow it from a friend and give yourself a treat. If you haven't seen the movie, rent it.

I haven't read this one yet, but the movie was adorable. If the book is half as good (of course it's probably better), then it would be an enjoyable read.

I did see *Election* years ago, but haven't read the book (not the order I usually do things in!). Adding *Election* to my book wish list ...

Who is Book Club Girl?

  • Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house).   • I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy.
