I apologize for the tardiness of this post, and many of you may know this already, but the National Book Awards were awarded Wednesday night. Peter Matthiessen won the award for fiction, for his novel Shadow Country and Mark Doty won the poetry award for Fire to Fire. Annette Gordon-Reed won the nonfiction award for The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family and Judy Blundell won the Young People's Literary Award for What I Saw and How I Lied. Each author link will bring you to an interview with that author.

Yay, Mark Doty! I love him.

I read WHAT I SAW AND HOW I LIED and absolutely loved it. It's one of those YA novels that adults would enjoy. In fact, I think you need to have a few years on you in order to fully appreciate the story.
