My neighborhood book group meets tonight, so I won't be able to call in, but I do have a question ...
I've now read 3 of Patchett's novels, with very varied settings - from "somewhere in South America" in *Bel Canto* to Los Angeles and Nebraska in *The Magician's Assistant* and now Boston and Cambridge in *Run*. Very diverse and very deeply explored.
Are these areas significant to Patchett personally (has she lived in any of these places?), or are they more simply where the story needed to take place?

I was really intrigued by Tip's interest in ichthyology. Is this an area of personal interest for Ann? What sort of research did she do for this aspect of Tip's character? Has she visited the Museum of Comparative Zoology?

Dawn and Ruth -- those are great questions, I'll make sure to ask them. And I'm looking forward to hearing from Julie and Darlene -- and Ruth too if you can make it!
Dawn, hope your book group has fun tonight.
