I'll announce all the winners soon to all of last week's BBAW giveaways, I promise. I didn't quite realize how many I had on my hands until I sat down today to compile all the comments and pull all the winners. Thank goodness for the plastic cauldron we bought this weekend for Halloween, it came in very handy for pulling out all the names (which my kids really enjoyed as well)!
In the meantime, a week of appreciating books and the people who promote reading sure makes Banned Books Week, which starts at the end of this week, seems even more appropriate. On the reading group side, there are so many books that have been banned in various towns around the country that are book club staples, that it's hard to believe (The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings?). Those of us who love and live for books need to fight against the banning of ANY books wherever and whenever we can.

I cant wait to see who the winners are... Banned books, for some reason I never understood this concept...can you imagine if everyone had that authority how many good books would be lost simply on the whim of someone's like or dislike for them?!

Banned books has even become an issue in this next presidential election. Just google Sarah Palin and banned books and you will see the stories. Although I don't think it will be as big of an issue as the economy and the Wall Street happenings... Can you believe that one of those CEO's of the big failures got a $161 MILLION good bye check from the company he put under???
