I'm so pleased to announce that my next Book Club Girl On Air blog talk radio show will be with Debra Dean, author of The Madonnas of Leningrad. In Madonnas, Dean tells the story of Marina, who, years earlier, helped to pack up the treasures of the Hermitage as the Nazis approached Leningrad. Now an elderly woman living in America, as Alzheimers is ravaging her memory, Marina finds herself living more in the past, while the events of her current life, her children and grandchildren, slip from her grasp.
Since its publication in 2006, Madonnas has topped reading group lists everywhere. I'm so excited to have Dean on the show which is scheduled for Thursday, August 21st at 7 pm EST. The first 15 people to comment on this post that they would like to participate in the show will receive a complimentary copy of the book to read before the show. Set your reminder for the show here, and browse inside The Madonnas of Leningrad here.

I am very interested in reading this book and participating in the radio discussion. That is, unless you are looking for new/different people -- and then I totally understand!

I'd love to read *The Madonnas of Leningrad* and contribute to your discussion with Debra Dean.
I've been fortunate to participate in your calls the past few months, so, like Julie P. says, I can go to the back of the line if need be :)

I would love to read and participate, too. If you're looking for new people, I would understand if I was skipped. Thanks. Lisa

Can I have a second chance? I was supposed to participate in the "Stone Creek" discussion but got stuck waiting out a horrendous downpour during my commute home! I'd really like to do this, but I will understand if you'd prefer not to include me. :(

I would love to participate. I am sorry I missed the last one--I was at play, but I am going to listen to it as soon as I get my computer situation resolved.

I have been meaning to read this book since it came out. But like most of us bibliophile too many books and not enough time. Now, I am really obligated to read it.
If I don't get a copy I will truy to get a copy at the library.

Hi Jen, I'd love to participate in the discussion. I got stuck with work with Stone Creek but had sent in some questions and listened to the show later. I've already got the book coming-I ordered it the other day so skip me for that part. Thanks!

This is a great book-- I will try to listen in--I read it about 2 years ago with my little book group. We had a great discussion. I'll try to grab a copy to brush up. I highly recommend this one, and it is a quick read.
