Book Clubs are Talking About...

Clearly it's list time. The NY Post featured this list of ten books to impress fellow riders on your subway car, but you don't have to live in a city to enjoy these works and impress people on the bus, in the lunchroom, on the beach, at the pool or just waiting at the doctor's office. This is a great line up of books to help you plan your summer reading. The dates following each is when they're on sale. Check out the article for descriptions of each book.

Hmmm... Wondering how I can read and bike at the same time! Interesting list. I loved Jennifer Haigh's first two books, so am looking forward to this one.

I think this is a really good list. Lots of variety here. I read the excerpt of The Condition and I am really looking forward to it coming out.

This is a really good list. I'm really looking forward to Jennifer Haigh's new book-I've read her others and also The Garden of Last Days by Andre Dubus-it sounds like it could be quite an emotional novel.

Who is Book Club Girl?

Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house). She was single, lived in the city, met a man, moved to the 'burbs, and is now a wife, a stepmother, a mother, and in her spare time, a fledgling blogger dedicated to sharing great books, news and tips with book club girls everywhere.

My Review Policy

I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy. I have a fondness for YA literature and while the blog is not devoted to it (well, except for my obsession with the Betsy-Tacy series), I will occasionally review some YA books.
