Elizabeth Noble's New Novel Things I Want My Daughters To Know On Sale Today!

My_daughtersThe new novel by Elizabeth Noble, author of The Reading Group, is on sale today and I can attest that it is amazing. I had a chance to read Things I Want My Daughters To Know a few months ago and I just loved it. In the novel, four daughters are left with letters and a journal from their mother who has just passed away. In her letters and journal, Barbara hopes to pass along both her wisdom and her love to the girls she's Lizzie_2had to leave too soon. You will cry, and you will laugh, and I guarantee you will recognize yourself in any one--or more--of the women Noble portrays. A guaranteed meaty book group discussion will come from reading this book and sharing your stories of growing up with your own mother and how that has affected you and your own mothering today.

I can't wait to read this book. I fell in love with the author's work after reading "The Reading Group" with my reading group.

I really liked "The Reading Group" as well and am looking forward to this one. I'm also happy publishers are starting to move away from "chick lit" style covers, because, much as I enjoy chick lit, some authors deserve a shot at reaching a wider audience. The cover for this book is beautiful and tasteful.

Who is Book Club Girl?

  • Book Club Girl is: a member of a book club and an avid reader who spent most of her childhood immersed in a book, an English major who considered library school until she realized it was all about computers, so turned to publishing, where she now works (but she vows to talk about books from all over and not to simply flog those from her own house). She was single, lived in the city, met a man, moved to the 'burbs, and is now a wife, a stepmother, a mother, and in her spare time, a fledgling blogger dedicated to sharing great books, news and tips with book club girls everywhere.

My Review Policy

  • I review fiction and nonfiction that is appropriate for book clubs. This includes literary and some women's commercial fiction as well as memoir and narrative nonfiction. I do not review self-help, thrillers, mysteries, horror, or fantasy. I have a fondness for YA literature and while the blog is not devoted to it (well, except for my obsession with the Betsy-Tacy series), I will occasionally review some YA books.
